Answer: D

The way I learnt this is that, the side with more moles is favoured and therefore production on the side with least moles is favoured when pressure is increased. I also learnt that solids and liquids play no role in such a question. However, given my logic, neither of the answers are right except for #1!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! this actually has to do with the amount of gaseous entities. read over your notes for the section on pressure. the system will move to the side with the most gaseous entities. in this case, is is to the left for both 3 and 4. we now have the result desired.

Ok so 3 and 4 means that the forward process is favoured. I understand that favouring the forward process will increase the concentration of the products and will then result in having the products favoured. Is this the logic behind the answer D?

Thanks!

Yes.
Favoring the forward process = increase concentration of products = shift equilibrium to the right.

They all mean the same thing :)
