Hi right I hate having to do this and its my last resort but basically i took biology applied in 6th form and like most of the class we thought it would just be about biology but no there is chemistry invloved as well which I am clueless about so Ive tryed to get help from everyone else in my class but they always hand in work at the last minute so its hard to get help. Asking my teacher is like receiving a death penalty which is why ive came here.

I have a few assignments to hand in it usually involves doing an experiment to find out something then talking about it and concluding our results would anyone be willing to help me with them please thankyou.

Ill post up what they are if anyone is willing to help me

Just so you know this is A level work which is a little harder than high school work as i am from the UK

What i need is for someone to basically tell me what i need to do. so for each assigment they can write down in order of what i need to include its not alot of work by the way its just really hard for me as ive never really done chemisty

So, they're level of universities? That is similar to what the U.S. has in "A.P" (Advanced Placement) courses, so not too much trouble. Most of the experiments are standardized. I'll do my best at explaining the physical meaning, but for the most part, you'll be writing it up.

You can make attachments at the bottom of the post - where it says "manage attachments", will be a pop-up window. Upload the file if you need to with any diagrams.

Yea i dont mind doing all the writing up i just need to know exactly what to write so its all ok i dont mind doing the work but its just so hard as ive never done chemistry. all my assignments are on paper so ill take screen shots and upload them now

This is the one im having most trouble with at the moment. it goes pass, merit, distinction so you have to do so much work to pass each part eg if i just do pass i only pass but if i want a distiction i have to do all three parts.

ive took screen shots as i dont have a scanner but there very clear i hope there ok

ive uploaded with tinypic as the files are too big for attachments

there is a lot to do here. start with the basis and show us your work. for part 1 look on the periodic table and look for sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl) and formulate a balanced chemical equation. Give us your thoughts, ideas, and attempts for each individual part and i will be able to make it clear.

I know how about we just do pass for now then. i really dont understand it at all ive started some of my other ones but this one is just to hard like i am a beginner at chemistry so this is so hard for me that i dont even know were to start with it.

Could you write down like what i need to do like

section 1 - write about what a ? is

section 2 - write about what a ? is

section 3 - what happens when mixed together

section 4 - conclusion write about ?,? and ?

Task 1:

Part 1: Why is it that Sodium Chloride is stable and needed for our body, when its components, in pure form, are a poisonous gas (Chlorine used as a weapon in WWI) and a highly reactive metal (that loudly fizzes when put into water, melts on contact with human skin, reacts the second it touches air).

How is this possible? That is what they want you to understand.

Part 2: Energy profile diagram. You have the Potential Energy of Methane, Oxygen on one side, Water and CO2 on the other, a certain amount of energy to activate the process, and a difference to show the release of energy. The general graph will look like one of these two: which one? (You tell us, and we'll tell you if its correct):

After you determine the general shape, plug in the numbers where they need to be. That will be simple to do, with Hess's Law (search for something on that, and come back with a plan - I'd suggest balancing to start with, and supplying your numbers for deltaH formation.)

Task 2
Part 1: Give us 3 properties, and some idea as to what happens as the temperature changes. What does salt do? You can try for several properties, such as smell, color, what happens when you put it into a liquid, can it conduct electricity?

Part 2: I'll give you a hint that is interesting: Why is water most dense at 4 Centigrade, when almost everything else is most dense at around absolute 0 (-273 Kelvin)?

Part 3: Why does Sodium Chloride dissolve in Water? Why does it conduct electricity in water? Why is NaCl not soluble in solvents like CCl4 (which is what Tetrachloromethane is)?

Task 3
Part 1: Group 6 Elements made with Hydrogen-only follow a certain pattern, except 1. That Group 6 seems unusual, they usually look at Group 16 (Chalcogens of Oxygen, Sulfur, Selenium), so ask your instructor which they mean.
Then, in another group, the same exception can be seen - where? (It would have to be for the same reason).

Part 2: Look up the word "isomer", and also the structure of neopentane (2,2 dimethyl propane and neopentane are the same). How do the structures differ, and how / why do the3 boiling points differ?

Answer those questions as best you can, even one by one, and a further explanation will follow - Wolf's honor.

thanks for your explanation
